Green sea turtles are large marine reptiles found in tropical and subtropical oceans worldwide, named for the greenish fat in their bodies, not their shell colour. With olive to dark brown shells, they can weigh up to 400 pounds and live over 70 years. They migrate long distances between feeding grounds, where they eat seagrass and algae, and nesting beaches, where females lay eggs. Interesting fact that green turtle hatchlings are omnivorous, eating jellyfish, snails, crabs, and shrimps.
They are endangered due to habitat loss, pollution, and poaching for their eggs and meat, conservation efforts like protected nesting sites help their populations recover.
