The Canada lynx is a medium-sized wild cat found in the boreal forests and tundra of North America. Recognizable by its black ear tufts and short, black-tipped tail, the lynx has a dense, grayish-brown coat that camouflages it in snowy environments. These solitary and elusive cats primarily hunt snowshoe hares, with their population closely following the hare's population cycles. Known as the lynx-hare cycle, this phenomenon highlights their dependency on a single prey species.
Despite their adaptability, Canada lynx face threats from habitat loss and climate change, emphasizing the need for conservation efforts to protect these fascinating felines.
