A unique, tough, large, quilted shopping bag with reinforced corners. There are three larger squares with fairies, so hide that if fairies aren't your thing. But imagine you are waiting in a queue with a little one who is becoming bored. Description: The bag is cotton – the threads, the fabric and the padding – so it is strong and can be washed. The handles are reinforced with padding for comfort and quilted for strength.
Technique: The sides feature fabric made from over 300 2” squares, that were stitched together, sandwiched with wadding (padding) and quilted. Lining (herringbone batik in matching purple) was constructed and the bag was sewn together with binding added to cover the rough edges. The binding was machined on one side and hand-sewn on the other (to be neater).
Details: The bag is 34 x 49 x 18 cm (h x w x d) measured on the outside. The straps are 36 x 4 cm. As the bag is cotton it can be washed in cold water and dried in the shade. It will shrink in warm or hot water or a dryer, but will not be damaged in any other way and will still function.
