This bag is not only striking, with a series of stylised birds on the front, but also large enough to carry A3 sized accessories such as an A3 desk easel, an A3 scoring board and an A3 light box. Some of the photographs show my A3 desk easel and my light box in the bag, with space for paper or other supplies. It is an ideal gift for the artist or crafter who carries their supplies to workshops or into the field.
Description: The bag front has three rows of birds, framed by a batik grevillea print in blue on back. The back and the handles are the same blue/black cotton batik. The lining is a blue cotton batik. There is a large internal pocket, with a black band at the top to make it easy to find. The bag has wadding between the outside and the lining, and in the handles.
Technique: The birds were made using foundation paper piecing. I designed two birds, and then divided each into strips that only required straight stitching. The strips were stitched, following the colour plan, then pieced to make the complete bird. The birds were trimmed then joined and framed. Padding was ironed onto both the front and back. A pocket was added to the lining, then the bag was constructed.
Bag Details: The bag measures about 41 x 43 cm, the internal pocket is 23 x 21 cm and the handles are both 63 x 4 cm. Cold washing is recommended, and drying in the shade.
