These bags feature striking, white, hand-stitched flowers on a navy background.
Description: Each item is a small, cross-body bag, suitable for carrying a tablet, phone, wallet and keys. The strap can be shortened by knotting at the shoulder, to form a shoulder bag. The bag is padded, front and back. While the back has a Japanese pattern of stars or flowers, the front features flowers hand-stitched in white. The design is framed in white chain stitch.
Technique: The embroidery is in the style of Japanese sashiko - a traditional hand embroidery technique. White cotton thread is embroidered onto navy (or properly indigo) fabric using running stitch. The patterns can be geometric, or picturesque as here. Once stitched, the front and back were fused to padding, lined and stitched into a bag. A long padded strap was added, with machine embroidery in blue down the centre, so the bag can be worn across the body, or the strap shortened and worn on the shoulder or in the hand.
Bag Details: Each bag is about 25 x 25 cm, and the strap is 108 x 3 cm. The bag can be washed in cold water, and dried in the shade. If ironing is required, the use a setting suitable for synthetics. If I've missed any threads, just snip them off flat with the surface.
