The main feature of this bag is a glorious panel of a galah family (female on the right) by Natalie Jane Parker which has been divided like a stained glass window.
Description: This is a largish bag, capable of carrying objects wider than an A4 book. The front is a panel, dissected and then reconstructed to look like a stained glass window. The bag is quilted and padded, front and back. The back is a simple batik of flowers, quilted diagonally. The front and back extend to become the sides.
Technique: The front was made by cutting a panel, while avoiding taking away the detail of the birds (for example I made sure that I didn’t cut across the faces). It was then rejoined with black fabric, so that the black ‘lines’ only took the same space as is missing from the original panel. The front and back were quilted then made into a bag. The quilting can be seen on the inside/lining. The handles are also padded and quilted so they are comfortable but strong.
Details: The bag is about 36 x 31.5 x 10 cm (hxwxd), and the handles are both 50 x 3.5 cm. The bag can be washed in cold water, and dried in the shade. It can be ironed if necessary – it is made from cotton. If I've missed any threads, just snip them off flat with the surface.
