This stunning asymmetrical green sea glass, from the shores of Wallabi Point Beach, is set in a chunky fine silver bezel on a solid sterling silver backing. The band is 6mm wide and 1mm thick and I have textured it with heat and silver dust to represent the grainy sand where I found the glass. Repeating the heating process over and over brings the fine silver to the surface of the metal giving it a white appearance. The final process involves burnishing the texture so that the raised grains shine. The texture on the band is lovely and has an organic feel. Treat yourself to this one of a kind, handmade ring or surprise a green loving friend.
Did you know that sea glass can take decades of tumbling in the surf against sand and pebbles for the glass to take on a frosted appearance - jewellery quality sea glass has no shiny areas of glass. I love that someone’s throw away bottle can become something so pretty. I rarely find any sea glass on my beach walks at Wallabi Point and am always excited to find a piece that can be made into jewellery.
Please note that it is very difficult to photograph sea glass to accurately represent its colour - the video with polish on my fingers is closest to the colour. In the photos, the point of the sea glass appears to have a chip but definitely does not, it is just a mark within the glass. The glass is exactly as I found it.
