A stunning lab grown alexandrite is bezel set on a band forged by hand from recycled sterling silver. The band has been given a satiny, brushed finish and carries the unique patina of being made by hand. The chunky bezel setting is polished on the rim to contrast with the band and to showcase the stone. Alexandrite is known for its colour changing properties with a red/purple under incandescent light and green/blue highlights in sunlight. This ring is one of a kind. Size O (7 1/2)
In my question for sustainability, I melt offcuts and scraps of silver to pour into molds to make sheet or wire, or to sandcast jewellery. Here, I sawed the band from a recycled sheet that I rolled out to a comfortable thickness. See the video to note that there are minor flaws in the silver that sometimes occur in recycled sheet but in no way affect the integrity of the piece only add to its uniqueness.
