Description

In an attempt to use the offcuts from my spoon making, I started making these cute little teaspoon measures.  They are small, holding approximately 5ml of liquid, and are the perfect gift for someone who has everything!

These are quite like a lucky dip, as they are made from a variety of timbers and their shapes are not generally the same.  They are similar but all have their own personalities.  I start off with a piece of timber that has typically been cut from another project, shape it a little more on the bandsaw if necessary, and then draw a circle on the top.  I use my hand tools to carve out the bowl shape to ensure it holds a teaspoon measure’s worth of material (I use couscous to measure).

Then I usually add some chip carving for a pretty detail, before a light sand, and then a burnish and seal using my spoon butter, a mix of coconut oil and beeswax, I then buff to a shine afterwards.
