This vibrant silk scarf has been hand printed with large round and heart shaped eucalyptus leaves.
The finished colour given by the leaves is brilliant pinky red.
On one end you can see the tie lines from the string and the grey colour is from the tannin in the leaves and pot water.
Soft and floaty, just gorgeous.
40cm x 160cm 100% silk with hand rolled hems.

The eco-printing process I use involves wrapping the leaves around the fabric, tying tightly and boiling for many hours (4 to be exact!). I use a piece of salvaged iron in the boil, which also gives colour and interest to the finished result. I don't use any chemical or powdered mordants in any of my products. The scarves are colourfast and can be washed by hand with a pure soap.
