- The finished colour given by the leaves is brilliant pinky reds and deep oranges.
- The grey colour is from the tannin in the pot water which comes from the leaves and the iron.

The eco-printing process I use involves wrapping the leaves around the fabric, tying tightly and boiling for many hours (4 to be exact!). I use a piece of salvaged iron in the boil, which also gives colour and interest to the finished result. I don't use any chemical or powdered mordants in any of my products. The scarves are colourfast and can be washed by hand with a pure soap.
