These discs are hand cut from recycled copper sheet. The front of the discs are enamelled with a transparent golden enamel powder and fired using my torch until molten and fused to the copper disc.
The back of the discs are then cleaned with my dremel and rotary disc to remove any fire scale, ready to apply the black enamel to the back of the earrings.
Once the back and the front are enamelled it’s time for the colour.
The technique used to apply the colours is called wet packing.
Enamel powder is mixed with water and applied with a tiny paint brush, each layer is fully dried out before firing and this process is repeated several times until the depth of colour is achieved.
Once the earrings are finished I clean the edges to remove any fire scale and buff till smooth and shiny.
Each earring measures 2.2cm in diameter
The total drop length of the earrings from the top of the ear hook to the bottom of the disc is 3.5cm long
The ear hooks are made from Argentium silver
*Argentium silver is hypoallergenic and low tarnish
