Please allow me to introduce myself...

My name is Rochelle and I'm the owner of Gladys and Maude.
.
I'm a proud Australian intuitive artist and maker.
.
I create the majority of my pieces from my little studio in the city of Lake Macquarie, Awabakal Country in NSW with my best friend & faithful companion, Willow the Great Dane. If I'm not creating in my studio, the magic happens whilst I'm immersed within nature.

My creations are an eclectic mix of hand-dyed, eco-dyed, slow-stitched, hand-painted, rescued textiles, handspun spun, knitted or crocheted with a focus on slowing down, working intuitively and exploring making, as a meditative practice.

I primarily use materials and notions that are rescued, collected, upcycled, recycled, and/or reused, vintage, retro, natural, to create beautiful new, tactile, character-filled products.

.

Many of my creations are dependant on which materials cross my path. For example, I recently acquired a lovely amount of quality, 100% wool doctors flannel so I set about making some needle cases to utilise that beautiful Australian wool.

I believe in creating something new, beautiful, unique and practical from materials that have lived previously. That have been touched, used, and sometimes discarded but show incredible character and beauty within the worn. Some of the textiles & notions that I utilise are over 100 years old and as a result WILL contain age marks and small stains.

I do soak, spot stain and wash every item but some are still carrying evidence of a previous, much loved life. 
.

Every item I create is formed with great care, attention to detail and filled with character with no two pieces the same or to be repeated. Some items may be similar but never the same.

Within my store you'll discover handspun yarns, hand dyed and painted yarns, hand knitted items, beautiful, unique eco-dyed and hand painted fabrics, mini Joy journals, stitcheries, zippered pouches, watercolour paintings, needle cases & more.

Please be aware, I'm only able to attend a post office one day a week at the moment - usually a Wednesday or Thursday. If you need your parcel sent earlier, please contact me so I can make alternative arrangements.

Items are packed carefully & securely using recycled packaging wherever possible.

If you are interested in a custom piece, please reach out. We love the opportunity to create something special that is unique to you whenever we are able.

Please contact me ASAP if you have any problems with your order. Returns and exchanges are accepted on pre-made items IF there is a problem with the product.

Please contact me within 7 days of delivery and ship items back in original condition within 14 days of delivery. Return shipping is at the purchaser\'s expense.

If the item is not returned in its original condition, the buyer will be responsible for any loss in value. The following items cannot be returned or exchanged:
