.

For a very detailed explanation of how this needlebook has been crafted, please keep reading.
.

This unique needlebook has been created from a collection of vintage & retro textiles that I've been collecting for over 40 years as well as the perfect pieces I've been hunting down over the last few months to finish it with just the right details.
.

The cover of the needlebook is made from a piece of vintage 1970's brushed cotton.
.

The life the textiles in this needlebook have lived previously shows in the places with small age marks but that's one of the reasons I fell in love with the textiles contained within - they have character, wonderful history & they tell a magical, silent story of their past life.
.

As you unwrap the piece of vintage lace that has been attached as a tie holding the needlebook closed, you'll notice a piece of vintage lace in the shape of an ear of wheat, hand-stitched carefully onto the kantha stitched brushed cotton cover. The cover has been finished off nicely with a hand crafted bias in complimentary colours.
.

Upon opening the needlebook, you're greeted with a bright and cheerful orange/red hand dyed lace vintage tablecloth remnant. Looking to the left abs the inside cover,  you'll see some cream coloured pure wool doctors flannel lining & a gorgeous piece of embroidered vintage doily on the inside cover that forms a pocket. I have stitched a couple of pieces of vintage cotton onto the pocket to balance the green wool felt that peeks through from under the orange/red dyed lace triangle.  If you reach gently into the pocket, you'll feel a piece variegated, yellow, braided vintage crochet cotton with a double-ended needle threader attached so it won't be lost.
.

From here you'll turn the orange/red triangle of lace to reveal a piece of hand embroidered, vintage linen with a piece of green wool felt attached to keep needles stored. This little piece of felt has 2 sewing needles and a decorative pin. I have also seen in a cute little fussy cut strawberry hexagon and just before this, you'll see a crocheted yellow edging.  If you look closely, you'll see where if stitched in some tiny little green stitched along where the crochet joins to carry the green theme throughout.
.

Peeking out from the side of this linen page is a little but of rough edge doctors flannel. We turn this page to be greeted by a pretty, cross stitched pocket that has been created from a vintage napkin.  I have attached a piece of vintage cotton broderie eyelet lace and behind this lace I've attached a needlewoven bar that wraps around the vintage mother-of-pearl button.  If you unfasten the button loop and gentle reach inside the pocket, you'll find a cute pair of reproduction vintage stork embroidery scissors, which of course,  are included in your needlebook.
.

If you look to the page on the right, with it's hand crocheted edge you'll see a beautiful cluster of fussy cut hexagons, with the centre hexagoncut from a piece of 1970s vintage cotton. The sweet little orange flowers and white flowers with a pop of neon pink in the hexagon cluster are all cut from one gorgeous piece of Petit Pan fabric.
