This comprehensive 26-page PDF set of instructions shows you how to sew a fully lined, everyday tote. It is an uncomplicated, practical design making it ideal for everyday use. With its handy pockets and large size, you will want to make several of these. The leather straps are long enough to carry over your shoulder and short enough, so the bag doesn’t hit the ground when carried in your hand. The lining is reinforced with fusible interfacing, so it has some structure. The interior features a generous, zippered pocket which is always handy. The bag also has an optional magnetic closure which is a fast and easy way to open and close your bag.
The bag measures approximately 13" high, 6" deep, 14" wide at the base and 21" at the top when closed. The straps are approximately 13" long.
I've organised the instructions in clearly labelled sections - cutting out, preparation, constructing the main bag, constructing the zippered pocket, installing the magnetic snaps, assembling the lining, attaching the handles, completing the lining, assembling the tote, finishing. I've included lots of large colour photos and step-by-step written instructions to make the process as simple as possible.
And yes, I've included full instructions on how to make your own waxed canvas at home, plus tips on working with waxed fabric!
