This black cat portrait is stitched completely by hand using a technique called thread painting — where thread is layered like brushstrokes to create depth, detail, and texture. It took over 90 hours to complete and uses 18 different thread colours to bring out the rich tones and soft shadows in the cat’s fur.
It’s the very first piece in my new collection of pet portraits in thread. While I’ll keep learning and growing with each new piece, this one is finished and special just as it is — full of personality, texture, and quiet charm.
