Cathy from Natural States is a self-taught wire artist, creating jewellery using the ancient cold forge method of wire wrapping. She values preserving the integrity of the stones she works with, honouring their near natural state while using a method that dates back to the Middle Ages.
Wire wrapping enables more exposure of the subject stone and involves no heat or glue, wire is simply manipulated and compressed. The wire serves not only to secure the stone but offers unlimited design opportunities to project aspects of its energetic properties, enhancing the piece through its presentation.
Cathy enjoys immersing herself in the imaginative process, constructing creations that unify the form, and the formless, never quite knowing how a piece will turn out until it is finished.
Her vision is to create jewellery that people love and feel fantastic wearing. She believes that all we need to do in this world is open our heart, give and receive love and is so grateful to do that through her creations.
