Crafted with inspiration from the stunning natural landscape surrounding Rubibi (Broome) in northern Western Australia, these handmade ceramics showcase both functionality and artistry.
The plates are formed from white raku clay using a traditional Japanese wooden press mould and come in small and large sizes. Each plate is uniquely made, featuring intricate stamping and texturing achieved through techniques such as shellac relief, stamping, and the use of found and recycled materials. Glazed with a red iron oxide wash and finished with a clear glaze on the surface, the plates’ sides and underside remain unglazed, showcasing a natural red finish reminiscent of the region’s iconic landscapes.
Similarly, the ceramic earrings are individually hand-cut from thin clay slabs, textured, and glazed with a red iron oxide wash, topped with a clear glaze for a refined finish. The earrings are paired with high-quality sterling silver hooks and hoops, with durable jump rings embedded directly into the raw clay for strength and a minimalist design, thoughtfully packaged in stylish gift boxes.
