I was raised in a very creative, artistic family. Growing up, l had an inherent need to express myself through tactile art forms.

After venturing into many different arts and crafts, l turned my hands to making coil baskets and felt l had finally come home.

This sacred journey began about 4 years ago. I have always felt a deep sense of connection with mother nature, her breathtaking and abundant treasures that we are all surrounded and infused by.

Foraging fibres and preparing them for a new creation is always a profoundly intimate and satisfying venture.

With an abundance of earthy colored fibres (lomandra, ponytail, banana trunk, palm fronds, reeds and grasses) coloured raffia, string and wool, l am able to transform natural materials into beautiful functionable artforms, leaving me with a deep sense of purpose and gratitude.

Coil weaving connects us to our ancient ancestors, it is one of humanities oldest crafts, essential for carrying, storing objects and cultural storytelling. The slow repetitive rhythmic motion of this craft is deeply nurturing, bringing calm to a busy mind.
