Tell us about your creations and your handmade process.

At The Fuzzy Wonders I create all of my pieces from scratch, with different parts of the process somehow spreading across the shed, studio room and occasionally the dining table. I love working with timber and mixing it with metal, plastics, gears and other random bits and pieces to build quirky steampunk-inspired robots, creatures and trophies full of personality. Every piece is made by me and I always have a lot of fun turning weird ideas into something real.

Tell us a bit about your journey to becoming a handmade artist.

I never really planned on becoming a handmade artist - it all just sort of happened by accident.

A few years ago I started building wooden toys for my son and then I started making toys for other people too and somehow people started buying them.

I'm an engineer by trade and a musician at heart, so creating handmade pieces became a natural way for me to blend the technical and creative sides of my personality.  Somewhere along the way, that evolved into a strange little world of robots, trophies and oddball creations. Seeing people smile or laugh when they discover my work is honestly one of the best feelings.

What is your inspiration or where do you find inspiration?

I'm heavily inspired by steampunk, sci-fi and the Victorian era, although inspiration very often comes from completely unexpected places like movies, random objects and people around me. I try not to limit myself too much when creating new things… but it would probably be a lie to say I don't love the whole robotic industrial world the most. If it has gears, bolts or looks like it belongs on a strange old flying machine there's a good chance I'll find it inspiring.

Where did you learn your craft?

I learnt everything by myself. A few years ago I started with a single drill and a table saw in my garage and then through a lot of trial and error I slowly learnt different woodworking techniques, ways of putting strange things together and most importantly how to not hurt myself in the process haha.

Why is handmade artistry so important to you?

Handmade artistry is important to me because it brings something fresh, unusual and full of personality into a world where so many things look exactly the same. You can walk through ten big stores and still not find anything that feels truly special or unexpected. I love creating things that make people stop for a second and go "wait… what is this?" followed by a proper "wow" face when they receive it as a gift. Honestly that reaction alone makes all the timber dust and chaos worth it.
