When you dye your own fabric you have an endless possibility of colours and patterns. I use various techniques like vat dyeing, crumple dyeing, tie dyeing and ice dyeing.
When you dye your own fabric you have an endless possibility of colours and patterns. I use various techniques like vat dyeing, crumple dyeing, tie dyeing and ice dyeing.
Ice dyeing is a process where fabric is covered with ice cubes and then powdered dyes are sprinkled over the top.
As the ice melts the dyes dissolve and disperse and that is where the magic happens!
The final results show stunning and unpredictable colours and patterns on the fabric!
I use fiber reactive dyes, they bond permanently with plant based fabrics like cotton, linen and silk. There is no fading, even after repeated washing.
