This is a unique hand built piece that was originally made for a local exhibition. The judges did award a "Highly Commended" label at that show.
Each tiny flat piece of each hexagon was hand cut and joined then glazed with my favourite "anemone" glaze which comes out aqua, blue and purple.
The structure of a tulipière varies, but they typically have a tiered or stacked form, with multiple openings that allow each flower to stand independently. This design helps extend the life of the blooms by keeping their stems separated and well-hydrated.
Tulipières are admired for their elegance and functionality. They make stunning centrepieces, allowing for artistic floral arrangements while adding a touch of historical charm to any space. I have added some artificial tulips to give you an idea of how it works.
