A modern take on a traditional pouch, used in Japan to carry rice offerings to the temple or to hold gifts.
I used ice dyed fabric to create this bag. Ice dyeing is the process where fabric is covered with ice cubes. Powdered dyes are sprinkled over the ice, and as the ice melts, the dyes dissolve and disperse, creating amazing patterns on the fabric!
The ends of the drawstrings are finished with flower shaped knot covers and on one side an extra detail is added with a hand stenciled rainbow label.
The 2 drawstring cords pull in all 4 sides simultaneously, resulting in the typical attractive box shape.
With it's wide opening it lends itself well for holding sewing supplies, craft supplies, small projects, toiletries, jewellery, pharmaceuticals, or even some snacks!
Generally great and eye catching for when you are in the go.
The whole bag is lined and padded and stands up by itself.
