Description
This small, hand built ceramic coffee cup has been created using the Japanese method of Kurinuki or carving. A solid block of clay is carved away carefully to create a hollowed out form or vessel, then shaped or decorated.
SET OF TWO CUPS
Inspired by the rustic colours and nature of the Western Australian northwest desert country, I have decorated the exterior of these mini clay cups using pindan soil collected from the region. This creates a textural, yet soft to the feel surface. Nice to hold! A rich, glossy, earthy coloured, foodsafe glaze has been applied to the interior of the cups.
A fine lip has been created for a nice edge to drink from. A small cup, this would be perfect for a single or double espresso, sake or other liqueurs. Maybe a shot or two?
