Each artwork is 55 x 56cm and comes already framed in oak with a hanging wire on the back. The artworks each weigh approx 4.2kg
My abstract works mostly explore nature and the environment. As a resident of the Sunshine Coast, my surroundings provide much inspiration and therefore the themes and properties of water, ocean, sun and light are regularly visited in my work.
Whilst the picture’s titles suggest my direct inspiration for each image, I prefer to leave the interpretation to the viewer, so that the work may become a ‘conversation’ where your own experiences and ideas can help form the reading of the composition.
My artworks are constructed from timber triangles mounted on a plywood board. Timber is a natural product and as such may contain knots, holes or other blemishes which some people may consider ‘faults’, but I like to think of them as ‘features’. Timber is also subject to climatic conditions; specifically it swells when humidity is high. As such, you may notice (but probably won’t) small gaps open up between the tiles, and close up again when the air becomes more dry. This is a characteristic of timber and is a nice reminder that timber is a wonderful product that comes from our natural world, and actually helps make our world a better place, unlike many of the other man-made products out there.
