This unique and original small art vessel is inspired by Autumn coloured foliage. In particular a wonderful Chinese Tallow tree in my garden with its beautiful colours.

The artist, a skilled fibre artist, has used the age old, labour intensive craft of wet felting using merino wool and silk to create a stunning piece of textile art that is both decorative and functional.
The vessel is made from 100% merino wool and silk fibres and features a rich palette of red, gold, orange, magenta and green.
After having created and shaped the vessel, I have then appliqued and embroidered more felt and fibres to the surface to create leaf and vines motifs around the bowl.

I am inspired by the natural world, and I love to use my art to capture the beauty of nature. I am particularly drawn to the colors and textures of the Australian desert, flowers and the ocean, and I have tried to reflect this in my work.

As wool felt is very light weight, a small polished stone has been placed inside the vessel to give it stability when standing.
