Paint with me?
Sometimes when I paint, I don't even recognise myself in what I produce. This was one of those moments, to begin with. I often say a little prayer before I start, what are we painting today? I reach for the charcoal which has drawn my curiosity of late. The lines feel chaotic, with no place to go. I don't like what I see. I add metallic, then purple/pink ink and a glaze of fluorescent pink. I really don't like what I see. I put both canvases away for many months.
On next glance, I can see an area that resembles a window-like view, an opening, a way out perhaps? In the confusion and chaos of what started, there's rest and peace to be found. The contrast of what feels like a sky, cloudy, perhaps a storm breaking. What do you see?
When my son looked at these pieces, he found the blue area felt stormy and the pink area felt fun and playful. Can you recognise anything among these colours and lines that speaks to you?
I'm honestly not sure exactly the story, perhaps some of the story is yours which is why I don't feel like I know it all? I do know it mattered to paint these and that the quirky impression speaks directly to someone's world.
The finer details:
Mixed media on canvas diptych (two canvases make up the one piece)
Size: 20x25cm (8x10 inches)
Signed on the back by the artist, Kym Corn, so you can hang these in any orientation of your choosing. String attached for portrait orientation hanging. Sealed with archival varnish to promote the longevity of the work.
All original artwork comes with a signed certificate of authenticity.
