Description
A tiny Monarch Butterfly (Danaus plexippus) painted in watercolour with some acrylic detailing.
Monarchs are native to North America and are one of the most recognisable butterfly species worldwide. They can be seen in huge groups during their long multi-generational migrations southward at the end of every summer, and their arrival in Mexico marks the beginning of winter. Monarchs play important roles in pollination, food webs, tourism and science education across North America. Despite once being very common, they are currently considered threatened under the U.S. Endangered Species Act.
This artwork is 5 x 5 cm. Painted on 300gsm watercolour paper, signed and dated on the back.
The painting is made to order, and as such, will vary slightly for each buyer. Please allow a week for me to have your painting created and shipped. All of my miniature paintings are sent untracked, packaged in recycled cardboard and placed in rigid envelopes.
