Marbled tea set in mandarin and lime

There is something delicious about porcelain, it's smooth and silky and has a clarity like no other clay. It's tricky to thrown because it's so fine, it gets the wobbles when it's thin, but so worth the effort.

This marbled effect on this teapot and two tumblers is made by mixing colour into the clay and throwing the forms. The method is called agateware or the Japanese term is neriage.
