This is an enlarged version of a traditional pouch, used in Japan to carry rice offerings to the temple or to hold gifts.
It is a great design with it's roomy box shape, wide opening and drawstring closure. Very practical for knitting/crochet/sewing or other projects on the go but can also be used as a lunch bag or for holding gifts (or rice)!
With this bag I have combined two Japanese traditions, the rice bag design with the dyeing technique of Shibori, more familiar to most as Tie Dye.
The exterior is apple green, contrasted by an ocher coloured interior. Extra detail is added with the Japanese style knot covers at the end of the drawstrings.
The whole bag is reinforced with a sturdy padding, giving the bag body and structure.
