Description
This is a boro inspired hand stitched brooch.
Boro refers to the clothing and textiles produced in rural northern Japan by repeatedly patching and mending cloth to extend its lifespan. For my work, I interpret this to use all fabric scraps and waste nothing! It will look a little frayed after use which has a wonderful charm and exactly the way it is supposed to be!
Made from 100% cotton Japanese fabrics, the pieces are hand stitched onto a padded cotton (muslin) base and it's set on a brass backing with decorative edge.
Add to your coat, jumper, or shirt. Or you could add to a bag, scarf or hat! 50mm diameter, pin on back. Gift wrap included.
