As the song goes - it's the most wonderful time of the year!! A great time to sit with loved ones to celebrate and reflect over the passing year - and if you're like my family, it's also a time for fun traditions. Each year, my mum got my siblings and I one special ornament for the tree, so that by the time we grew into adults and moved out of home, we'd have a collection of special ornaments that were filled with meaning and love. Now that we're all grown we display our ornaments on our own trees, and continue the tradition with our families.
In the spirit of of this tradition, I've created an extremely limited series of fused glass ornaments, to start (or add to) your own collection of extra-special ornaments, or gift to that extra-special person to show them how much they mean to you!
To make these ornaments, I had to create individual recess molds for each one, which builds the circular patterns in the glass through the fusing process. Once the pieces were adequately fused I soldered on the decorative twisted copper wire (a super fiddly task, but one that's totally worth it) before buffing out the solder to give it a satiny finish with areas of exposed twisted copper for the vintage appearance that I love. Each ornament has been finished off with a dangly hand-stamped metal "Ho Ho Ho" - because everything good needs some dangles at Xmas!
These special ornaments will shimmer and shine from the xmas tree, and make a beautiful suncatcher when the silly season is finished!!
