These custom‑made cosies are knitted from Australian, hand‑dyed, NOT superwash, so the fibres keep their natural warmth, softness, and character. 70% Australian Alpaca & 30% Merino wool – from Adagio Mills in Hawkesbury, NSW.

Available in three sizes:

  • 20-25cm — a generous size for 6‑cup teapots

Each cosy is shaped to hug your teapot, keeping your brew warm while adding a touch of handmade charm to your kitchen. They come with a handmade crocheted button to secure your teapot cosy, which saves you from stretching your cosy.

Because the wool is non‑superwash, it retains its beautiful lanolin softness (merino component) and gentle insulating properties.

Why do I care so much about where our wool? The majority of wool in Australia is processed overseas and has been Superwashed. Superwash treatment is a chemical process (chlorine or polymer coating) applied in mills, often outside Australia. The most common wool companies in Australia superwash their wool.

Superwash = wool + a thin plastic coating

Mass‑market = mostly superwash

Non‑superwash = pure wool, no coating, no plastic

Artisan, farm‑to‑skein, eco‑focused = mostly non‑superwash

Superwash wool is wool that has been treated so it can go through the washing machine. To do this, the natural scales on each fibre are either smoothed away or coated in a thin resin, which stops the wool from felting.

Non‑superwash wool keeps its natural texture, warmth, and gentle lanolin softness (there is no lanolin in Alpaca wool, only in the Merino wool). It insulates beautifully, feels wonderfully woolly, and is kinder to the environment because it avoids chemical processing.

Your teapot cosy is made from pure, Australian-made, warm, natural, and traditionally made.
