The original inspiration for my resin homewares products like bottle openers and cheese knives arose indirectly from the wish to share my sister's geological mineral thin section photography. This has evolved into my current collection of functional resin kitchen utensils like cheese knives and bottle openers featuring dried flowers and leaves. Candle holders, vases, timber bread boards and even stump tables now feature in my work, but it all originated with Sue’s petrological series of mineral thin sections under the microscope. I started by creating works inspired by Sue's photos and in 2018, then embarked on projects to satisfy my own creativity while continuing to work with Sue's images. This now takes the form of products using resin, timber and embedded botanical elements and photography. I continue to focus on making functional products that are beautiful as well. Sue's photos will continue to feature in my work as well as I investigate new ways to incorporate photographic images into my resin work. My heart lies with Sue's mineral photos, and I also love creating with new media and processes.
