Introducing Sharr and Lyn from The Herbal Estate. Where every item is handmade!! From The Highlands of New South Wales, they hand-craft small batches of organic skincare, foraging and infusing all the herbs themselves.
Find out why Sharr and Lyn started creating and why they are so passionate about the value of handmade.
Tell us about your creations and your handmade process.
Our creations are born from a deep respect of making skincare the old ways. Each product is handmade in small batches, slowly and intentionally, using whole, raw ingredients (chosen for their function as much as their integrity. )
Each batch is made by experience rather than machines.
This hands-on process allows us to listen to the materials and honour their natural intelligence, resulting in skincare that feels alive, nourishing, and supportive to the skin's own wisdom.
Tell us a bit about your journey to becoming a handmade artist.
Our journeys grew simultaneously. Persistently pulling toward simplicity, community-reliance, and a deeper relationship with what we put on/in our bodies. What began in reading labels, questioning ingredients, and experimenting in the kitchen - slowly evolved into a love affair into making things from scratch and tapping into our ancestral knowledge of how to thrive.
What is your inspiration or where do you find inspiration?
Our inspiration comes from the rhythms that exist outside of trends and fast consumption. We find it in the seasons shifting, in old herbal books, in talking to our wise Crones and in ancestral practices that honored the body as something to be supported rather than corrected.
Where did you learn your craft?
It's a blend of hands-on experimentation, studying traditional herbalism and Homoeopathy, learning from wise women who honour old-world methods, and spending countless hours observing how ingredients behave in real life.
Why is handmade artistry so important to you?
Handmade keeps the core of the product intact; it carries story, energy, and intention that cannot be replicated by mass production.
Sharr and Lyn are much loved members of the MadeIt Collective, posting regularly in our Facebook Group ~ MadeIt: Handmade not Massmade Australia ~ and sharing their new creations as they are released.
