Oh gosh it makes me sad to see beautiful antique china sitting quietly, forgotten in a cupboard!! But what to do with it all, and what if it's broken?
This unique pendant has been created using a piece of antique china - that will be proudly worn and shown off now, rather than sit in that cupboard!
The pendant, which measures a dainty 3cm x 2.5cm, is hung on a 55cm stainless steel chain, and features lead-free solder so it's safe to wear everyday as well as some beautiful hand twisted wire to accentuate the piece.
To create this pendant, I used a number of different processes and specialist hand tools in order to shape the piece and secure the decorative twisted wire with soldering. I've buffed the solder to give a smooth but matte finish, and have worn down some of the decorative wire to expose the copper and lean in to the overall vintage / boho vibe of the piece. Whilst some crazing may be expected on the china itself, this is a normal part of the aging process and in no way impacts the durability of the piece. This particular piece of china was taken from a saucer made in England by Roslyn Fine Bone China, with the design 'Picta'.
Fun Fact: Roslyn Fine Bone China was a brand used by the Royal Albert group between 1946 and 1963!
