The Science of Reading tells us that children learn to read best through explicit phonics, in a systematic and progressive way. Once they begin to learn sound-letter correspondence, they learn to blend them together to form words. It's important that children have access to quality texts that provide them with contextual practise reading words with the sounds they've learnt, rather than just reading words in isolation. This decodable text gives beginner readers just that. It contains only 7 sounds and 1 sight word and is the perfect first decodable text for your child.
