Description

The Piha Shawl is a stunning triangular shawl with a border that makes it that bit extra special. Hand crocheted by me near Bellingen on the mid north coast of NSW. This took about 55 hours to create.

This shawl is made in gorgeous Fyberspates Scrumptious Sport 4 ply which is a softly spun Merino wool (55%) and silk (45%).

Silk creates a beautiful sheen and merino wool lends the yarn a heavenly softness. With a rich display of colours this yarn is luxury in a skein and a treat to crochet. This yarn is made with super wash merino making it suitable to wash in the machine at 30 degrees.

This shawl took 2 skeins of chestnut brown and 1 skein of green (334 Mojito). A generous 95 cm deep and 150 cm wide it is lacy enough for a warm autumn or a cool spring night. The wool also provides warmth for a winter chill.

Designed by The Little Bee. Piha means the 'divided ripple at the bow of a canoe' , denoting the waves breaking at the iconic Lion Rock at Piha, New Zealand. The Piha Shawl design was inspired by the waves and sand ripples found at the low tide.
