Sedge Grass Basket

This basket was made from 100% native fibres (sedge grass) - harvested from the beautiful forests in which I live (Gumbaynggirr Country).

Every part of the weaving process felt therapeutic - wandering through the forest to gather the fibres, gently tenderising each with stones, drying them by the fire, and then finally sitting down to weave them into form.

It measures roughly 14cm in height, and 9-12cm in width, and would look beautiful with a glassed candle inside or even just sitting on the shelf as an ornament!
