I have created this unique, bird nesting material holder from stoneware clay.
With holes big enough for all size birds, drainage holes in the base and cord to hang from a tree branch, this holder not only is practical, but will add a lovely accent to your garden.
This bird nest material holder could also be used as a bird feeder. (Either use a solid native seed block inside, or cover the drainage holes and use loose seed.)
With a native garden filled with nesting birds, I found my felting wool scraps that I threw out into the garden, were making their way into nests that I would find later in the year when nesting time was over.
As ceramics is one of my artistic pursuits, I thought I would create a hard wearing, long lasting nest material holder to hold my wooly scraps.
I have included photos of a few of the nests I have collected over the last year or so.
These holders are very unique and I will continue to create more if I find others love them as much as me!
SIZE - total diameter 15cm
total depth - 7cm
Nylon rope - approx 55cm
Included is a small bag of my wool, which will be a mix of coloured (non- toxic, Australian made dyes) and undyed merino wool and Leicester Wool. Enough to fill the nest material holder 2 or three times.
I will also include a list of other nesting materials that birdies will love!
