This colourful planter with its’ quirky scene is individually and painstakingly handmade by me, and is one of a small batch of four planters made in this style.
After a few weeks of drying the planter is fired to bisque, then it’s given a wash of black underglaze, and more colour is added by painting on 3 x layers of underglazes and glazes. It was then fired again in my little electric kiln at 1060 C

- The planter is made from earthenware clay (like terracotta). Earthenware is porous, which makes it suited to planters as it allows a certain amount of water to escape and helps to moisten the plant without saturation. Although this planter has been glazed on the inside and sealed with liquid quartz on the outside, some leakage could still occur.
It is recommended to sit it on a saucer or similar to prevent staining of surfaces.
