Description
This unique and original small vessel is inspired by the rich blue and turquoise waters of the Western Australian Ningaloo Reef.
The artist, a skilled fibre artist, has used the age old, labour intensive craft of wet felting using merino wool and silk to create a stunning piece of textile art that is both decorative and functional.
The vessel is made from 100% merino wool and silk fibres and features a rich palette of blues, turquoise, cyan, white and hint of gold. Fluffy locks from Leicester sheep have been added for added texture and interest, reminding me of the foaming white water at the edge of the reef.
Size: 10cm/4" diameter x 15cm/4.5" height.

I am inspired by the natural world, and I love to use my art to capture the beauty of nature. I am particularly drawn to the colors and textures of the Australian desert and ocean, and I have tried to reflect this in my work.

I finish my pieces with a special acid free, hardening formula. This does not change the surface 'feel' or appearance of the vessel but gives it a more structurally solid form that will not collapse, much like a ceramic. Indeed, when viewed, my art vessels have been confused with ceramic artworks!
As wool felt is very light weight, a small polished stone has been placed inside the vessel to give it stability when standing.
Easily cared for.
Display away from direct sunlight.
Wipe with a dry cloth for dusting when necessary.
