Original hand-made ceramic tile artwork depicting a group of friends chatting at a wine bar. My artwork explores themes of social connection, the joys of friendship, communication and human interaction in day-to-day living.
Each artwork has been hand-built starting from raw clay, and put through at least two firings, first to around 960-1000°C, and finally to stoneware at 1280°C. Figures have been scribed directly into the wet clay and textures added before the first firing. The postures and expressions of the figures evolve as I build the images using underglazes. It can be difficult to predict the final results as colours can change significantly during the firing processes.
Each tile artwork is framed by the artist in a floating frame, the tile artwork affixed on a museum-quality acid-free mount, signed by the artwork l.r. below the ceramic tile. FREE SHIPPING within Australia
