Sun Garden Ceramics
Sun Garden Ceramics is based in lutruwita/Tasmania, Australia on the traditional
lands of the muwinina people. I pay my respects to the traditional and original
owners of this land.
My mugs start their journey on the potters wheel where I throw the body shape of
the mugs. Handles are crafted by hand and attached to the mugs once they have
dried to the leather hard stage. At this time all other sculpted elements and/or
carvings are added and the mugs are left for up to 5 days until they are bone
dry. Pieces are cleaned then loaded into the kiln for the bisque firing, which
drives moisture out of the clay and makes them porous and easier to handle.
Glazes are hand painted with up to eight layers over the surface of the mugs.
They are then fired in the kiln again to melt the glaze and fuse it to the
pieces. Each kiln firing takes over 24 hours to fire and cool. The gold paint is
then added to the moon and baked in the oven the set.
Patience pays off with beautiful, unique, magical ceramic wares. I hope you love
this mug as much as I do.
All of Sun Garden Ceramic products are handmade, hand glazed and painted,
photographed, listed and shipped by me.
Other Information
Your item must only be hand washed with a soft cloth. The gold can be scratched
easily so please take care. Use good judgment when caring for your mug - harsh
chemicals or scrubbing pads can damage the finish. Do not put your mug in the
microwave.
The item's colour may be slightly different from the pictures as photographing
glazed ceramics is notoriously challenging due to variations in lighting,
surface sheen and texture.
