'Birds of Paradise' is an original one off textile and photographic collage of colourful Australian parrots and a magnificent peacock. The Eastern Rosella was photographed in Echuca Victoria, the Lorikeet in my garden and the Peacock at Taronga Zoo in Sydney. All flowers were photographed on walks in my local neighborhood. The colourful textile has been in my collection for years and the birds inspired me to incorporate it into this work. Sections of the flowers and bird photography as well as the textiles have been embellished with high gloss lacquer and silver, gold and black thread. The artwork is presented on conservation mount board ready to pop into a frame as is or additional mounting can be added when framed.
Title: Birds of Paradise
Image: 25.5cm x 30.5cm conservation mount board - image approx. 15cm x 21cm
Framing: Unframed - would look fabulous in a simple black, white or brushed silver frame
Handmade process: All photographs have been printed on Epson matte archival paper using Epson Dura Brite Ultra fade resistant ink. Images have been Photoshop manipulated, printed, cut and integrated with textiles. All materials have been adhered to conservation mount board using acid free adhesives, including the metallic and coloured threads. This is a technique I developed in the early days of experimentation to add beauty and sparkle to the work. The result is a flat textural artwork similar in appearance to a painting, while exhibiting the unique and exquisite qualities of textiles layered with photographs!
Packaging: The unframed artwork will be protected in a clear art sleeve with surrounding firm packaging.
COMMISSIONS are always welcome!
