But, without the right organisation in place, it can feel like chaos, which is a tricky space in which to feel inspired. Keeping crafting supplies tidy can become a real problem for some.
Just because you are naturally creative, doesn't necessarily mean you are naturally organised; in fact, some may say it's quite the opposite!! Here are 10 clever ways to make your craft room the organised space it needs to be to get your creative juices flowing with ease.
1. Transform a closet space into a craft room
If you are struggling with limited space in your home and there is no one room that you can designate towards crafting, then consider turning one of your closets into a crafting area instead.
You can install an inbuilt desk, shelving and other organisational features to create a neat and tidy crafting space that still accommodates your needs. Make sure to utilise all of the vertical space within the closet, using bins on any higher shelving you install.
Then, when you're finished crafting, you can close the doors and use the room it's within for other purposes.
2. Install multiple shelving units
If you're fully renovating a space or designing a craft room from scratch, the renovation experts at Houseace advise that you first empty the space completely, then choose a wall that is best dedicated to both open and closed storage and shelving units.
This will enable you to organise all of your supplies in one place and frees up the rest of the room for the crafting itself. Open shelving spots can be filled with more decorative supplies, while the closed sections can be used to hide away any items that are less visually pleasing.
3. Label baskets for spacious storage
Crafting rooms needn't be monotonous or ugly in appearance. Most people enjoy their design best when it is in keeping with the rest of the home's decor. For example, if the rest of your home has a more rustic, natural feel, consider organizing your supplies in labeled wicker baskets.
4. Repurpose dining room furniture
For a more elegantly designed craft room, consider repurposing an old china cabinet or dining room hutch to use for craft supply storage.
