Tell us about your creations and your handmade process.

Each piece in my collection is lovingly handcrafted with the softest natural fibres, chosen especially for newborns' delicate skin. I work primarily with baby alpaca, and cotton yarns-natural materials that are gentle, breathable, and heirloom-quality. My designs blend timeless charm with thoughtful details, making them perfect for treasured keepsakes or first photoshoots.

From dainty lace rompers to cozy bloomers and bonnets, every garment is created with care and intention. I craft each item by hand-stitch by stitch-using traditional knitting and crochet techniques. The process is slow and soulful, allowing me to focus on the quality and uniqueness of every piece. Some designs feature intricate textures or delicate cable straps, while others embrace minimalist beauty in soft, earthy tones. Wherever possible, I offer customizable elements like detachable straps or color choices, so your little one's piece feels truly personal.

I begin by sketching and swatching, exploring how patterns and textures come to life in different fibres. I use premium yarns such as baby alpaca and 100% Australian cotton from Australian small businesses, prioritizing softness, sustainability, and comfort. Handcrafted with Love - Every garment is knitted or crocheted by hand in a smoke-free, pet-free space, with close attention to detail. I hand-sew seams, attach buttons or straps, and block garments to ensure perfect shape and softness. The result is a beautiful, long-lasting piece ready to be worn, cherished, and passed down.

Tell us a bit about your journey to becoming a handmade artist.

I began crocheting at the age of 9 when my mother first taught me the basic stitches, and I started making simple blankets. As time went on, I grew curious and wanted more of a challenge, so I began exploring different techniques through knitting books. About 18 years ago, I started creating props for newborn photographers, designing handmade pieces for their photoshoots.

Overtime as requests evolved and styles changed, I found myself drawn back to making outfits for newborns, and I fell in love with it all over again. Now after 10 years of focusing on newborn garments I still find so much joy in what I do. Each piece I create carries a touch of my own style, allowing me to offer something truly unique and handmade with care.

What is your inspiration or where do you find inspiration?

My inspiration comes from a mix of nostalgia, nature, and the quiet beauty of newborn moments. I often think back to the timelessness of heirloom pieces, the kind that are passed down through generations, and I try to capture that same sense of warmth and simplicity in my work.

I'm drawn to soft, earthy tones and natural textures, often inspired by the seasons, vintage knits and even the yarn itself.

Sometimes it's a single stitch pattern or a delicate button that sparks and idea. And of course, seeing how my pieces are used in newborn photoshoots brings everything full circle, reminding me why I started and how special each tiny garment can be.

Where did you learn your craft?

I first learnt the basics of crochet from my mother, making my first blankets. From there, my curiosity grew, and I began teaching myself new techniques and exploring different stitches through books and trial and error.

Knitting followed not long after and over the years I've continued to learn by creating new pieces, experimenting with textures and challenging myself with each project. It's been a journey of self-teaching, creativity and a lot of love poured into each stitch.

Why is handmade artistry so important to you?

Handmade artistry is important to me because it carries meaning, intention and a personal touch that can't be replicated by machines. Every stitch tells a story of time, care and craftsmanship and there's something deeply special about creating pieces that are made to be cherished.

In a world that moves so fast, handmade work is a way to slow down and connect with tradition. It allows me to put a part of myself into each item, knowing it might become part of a family's most precious moments. A first outfit, a newborn photo or a keepsake. That connection is what makes handmade so powerful and why I continue to do what I do.
