Introducing Sarah from 2 acres pottery. Where every item is handmade!! From her home in the rural property on the edge of Melbourne, Sarah specialises in tiny ceramics, each piece infused with a mystical essence.
Find out why Sarah started creating and why she is so passionate about the value of handmade.
Tell us about your creations and your handmade process.
I hand-build what I call 'enchanted ceramics' in my home studio on our rural property. I love working on a miniature scale.
I love anything magical, so fairy gardens, gnomes, toadstool houses and cute spooky ceramics are my favourite things to make.
Tell us a bit about your journey to becoming a handmade artist.
I learnt pottery over a number of years and became obsessed with making tiny houses - it is all I did for a year!
And everyone loved those houses so 2 acres pottery was born!
What is your inspiration or where do you find inspiration?
I find inspiration from my rural surroundings, living on Melbourne's rural fringe.
Where did you learn your craft?
I took pottery classes for 7 years and have built and honed my work over a number of years once I had my own studio.
Why is handmade artistry so important to you?
Handmade artistry is important to me because art is such a form of expression and when you are putting a piece of handmade work on your shelf, you have a piece of something special - something unique that has taken time to make and was made with love and care.
Sarah is a much loved member of the Madeit Collective, posting regularly in our Facebook Group ~ The Handmade Marketplace of Australia ~ and sharing their new creations as they are released. If you haven't connected with 2 acres pottery, make sure you join our FB Group and say hi !
